2nd KUB OA seminar successful
Presentations of the Nordbib funded hprints and other exciting projects
Thursday 29 November 2007 Copenhagen University Library (KUB) held their 2007 seminar on Open Access (OA).
80 participants from research libraries, publishers, universities and government agencies attended the mini-conference with five presentations:
- Frank Scholze, Universitätsbibliothek Stuttgart: "Networking institutional repositories in Germany: DINI/DFG projects"
- Marco Picco, LPTHE/CNRS: "HAL"
- Bertil Dorch, KUB: "hprints - an Open Access e-print archive for arts and humanities"
- Jens Vigen, CERN: "Open Access in High-Energy Physics: a Practical Approach"
- Bertil F. Dorch, KUB: "Scholarpedia: an Open Access peer-reviewed encyclopedia"
The Nordbib funded hprints project seeks to contribute with policy and a technical infrastructure making Open Access possible for research within arts and humanities. By doing so a number of advantages will be achieved concerning electronic accessibility and visibility of the arts and humanities research area. Hprints has entered an agreement with CNRS' electronic archive HAL presented by Marco Picco.
You can read more about the hprints project at the project page.
Nordbib works closely together with Denmark's Electronic Research Library (DEFF). Both Nordbib and DEFF found Jens Vigen's presentation of the SCOAP3 initiative very relevant. SCOAP3 is aiming at providing OA to all research articles from CERN. These days a discussion concerning OA, developed from CERN's progressive effort regarding this matter, is taking place between DEFF and the Danish Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation. DEFF expects to be able to give their positive declaration of interest in SCOAP3 to CERN in December 2007.
The presentations can be found at hprints' outreach page.
