Development of information environment architecture for Nordic countries

NB: This project is finished. The final report can be viewed here.

Summary

The aim of the project is to improve interoperability of digital library and institutional repository systems both within the Nordic countries and also internationally by developing an Information Environment Architecture for the Nordic Countries.

The standards relevant to the digital library services will be described. Special emphasis will be given to the standards relevant to Open Access issues. An important element is also the production of implementation guides. From content point of view, dissemination and preservation of dissertations and other Nordic scientific resources will be the key aim.

A lot of expertise is available in the Nordic countries in the key areas of the initiative. The project will build upon the existing work. A cross-disciplinary working group consisting of experts from Nordic countries will be formed, in order to guarantee efficient information exchange.

The project group will develop common practices and guidelines, and promote the use and implementation of them among all organizations that work with Open Access publications by providing training and implementation manuals.
